Shadowing Experience in Thrive’s Workforce Development Internship Program

87%

73%

During Thrive’s Workforce Development Internship Program, participants gain valuable hands-on experience through shadowing in various settings. Interns spend time in drug courts, working alongside Peer Recovery Supporters as they engage with clients, observe court dockets, and witness the positive changes in the court system regarding stigma. They also assist with essential back-end documentation processes.
Our interns benefit from extensive learning opportunities with seasoned professionals within our community, focusing on the development of essential soft skills. These skills include boundary setting, time management, crisis intervention, rapport-building, professionalism, and Medicaid documentation. Additionally, interns participate in the Specialist (QBHS) and Mental Health First Aid certification programs, which are requisite for their roles as Peer Recovery Supporters (PRS).
Additionally, interns shadow Thrive4Change’s outreach team, where they help with community outreach efforts, build and distribute kits, and contribute to data entry. This immersive experience provides interns with practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the peer recovery support role.
